One of the cooler things that has been dumped int our inbox over the last couple of days has been the trailer for the upcoming film Teenage Caligula. Teenage Caligula is actually the sequel to a film still in production dubbed The Theta Girl - yeah it's a bit weird, but hang with us. The Theta Girl comes from the minds of first time film makers Chris Bickel and David Axe. They are set to self finance the filming of The Theta Girl with $10,000 from their own pockets. They do however, need a little bit of funding to pay certain folks involved in the production. With that in mind, they are launching a Go Fund Me campaign, which you can find HERE. There are is plenty of fun swag associated with the campaign, so head over and support independent film making.
To further entice you to contribute to The Theta Girls Go Fund Me campaign, Bickel and Axe have constructed one of the more unique trailers, the exploitation themed "Teenage Caligula" which is actually the trailer to the sequel of The Theta Girl. Check out "Teenage Caligula" below, along with the synopsis and some other things about the film we've lazily cut and pasted from the press release.
"The Theta Girl is a feature-length psychedelic thriller that pays homage to 1960s art films, 1970s revenge flicks and '80s slasher films. Shot entirely in Columbia, South Carolina with regional talent, The Theta Girl is a bloody, sexy, atmospheric labor of love.
The Theta Girl concerns a take-no-shit young woman, Gayce, who deals a hallucinogenic drug called "theta," facilitating an audience for her friends' all-girl rock band. When Gayce's friends are brutally murdered, she must solve the mystery behind the murders and protect herself from the killer. She discovers the connections between theta and the murders ... and learns a terrifying truth. That the world -- indeed her whole reality -- is not as it seems."
