Odds and Ends : Nomenclature Bullshit Edition

Pet peeves. We all have them. Here is one big one of mine - laziness. Verbal laziness. We saw two prime examples of verbal laziness this week from out very own horror community. A third has been around for a long time and my annoyance has been growing as we approach it's release date. Let's shit on that first.

- The Haunting In Connecticut in Georgia...? What? Yup. Because studio marketing folks are lazy, we get the first in a string of titles that make absolutely no sense. Technically the films title is 'The Haunting In Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia'. Which could mean that Georgia ghosts have traveled up to the nutmeg state to visit Mystic Seaport. Or it means that there is some nomenclature bullshit going on. The original 'Haunting In Connecticut' was a neat little "based on a true story" home possession story that managed to bank over 55 million at the box office. Greedy studio pricks, were probably jonesing for a sequel. Unable to get a story that fit the original model, they probably tried shoehorning an existing story or script in to the mold and stuck the ridiculous title hoping name recognition would drive box office rather than having, I don't know, a decent film drive the box office. Here's the preview for the afore mentioned nomenclature bullshit :

- Next up in Nomenclature Bullshit roulette, is 'The Last Exorcism 2'. Actually, this isn't terrible. With a title like 'The Last Exorcism', you've kind of painted yourself into a corner. Although it probably would have been smarter to come up with some sort of subtitle, like say 'The Last Exorcism : The Ghosts of Georgia'...because really, how can you have the sequel to the last of anything? Here's that films trailer:

- And finally, they stupidest idea since 'Leonard Part 6'... 'Texas Chainsaw 4', yes there were some erroneous reports that this film had already been green lit. Despite the miss information, there is almost a 100% chance that film will happen based on the box office performance of the 'Texas Chainsaw 3D'. Why the bullshit. See in theory 'Texas Chainsaw 3D' is the direct sequel to the original 1974 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre', making it #2. So where are they getting #4 from? Well see it says 3D silly and as we all know, the movie going pubic are filled with nothing but retards and morons, unable to distinguish between the numbers 2 and 3 in terms of sequels and dimensions. This film will happen, let's just hope they figure out that 3 comes after 2 before then.

That's my soap box for the day, sorry for the long windedness, but there is a lot of bullshit out there...until next time...don't die
