Horror at the Box Office Report 5/6

Just a quick update regarding how our favorite genre did at the box office this weekend.

'The Hunger Games' held steady at #3 this week amassing another 5.7 million dollars. It's total now stands at just short of 381 million dollars domestically and 618 million internationally in seven weeks of release. It currently stands at number 14 on the all time domestic box office list. The film had a 78 million dollar budget.

The John Cusack film 'The Raven' continued it's mildly disappointing run in this it's second week of release.Despite standing even at #7 it garnished a paltry 2.5 million dollars this past week. It's total sits at 12 million domestically, add in another 3.8 million from domestic box office receipts and it looks like the film will be hard pressed to make back its 26 million dollar budget.

The story this week at the box office was all about the Marvel comic book flick "The Avengers" and its #1 all time opening weekend. Clearing just north of 200 million, it topped the previous best opening weekend (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II) bu 30 million dollars.
