SyFy in the Stephen King Business

The SyFy Channel has announced that they have acquired the film rights to the Stephen King swords and sorcery horror novel "Eyes Of The Dragon". First published in 1984, but mass market published in 1987, Amazon describers tale as succinctly as possible: "A kingdom is in turmoil as the old king dies and his successor must do battle for the throne. Pitted against an evil wizard and a would-be rival, Prince Peter makes a daring escape and rallies the forces of Good to fight for what is rightfully his."

As one of my favorite King books, I must say I'm pretty stoked about this and wonder what took so long. I must admit that having Sy Fy handle the film though makes me a bit leery. They have done some pretty good work with their originals (Tin Man, Battlestar Galactica) but they also have a propensity to add really bad looking cgi dinosaur/sharks/piranha/octopuses to things. Let's hope they will treat the property with the respect it deserves.
